40 Miles for Thrive Challenge
During April we are asking people to run, walk or cycle #40miles4Thrive to support our work with women, children and families experiencing domestic abuse.
You can choose how you cover your 40 miles – this can be running, walking, cycling, or even on a scooter or rollerblades! However you do it, you have the whole month of April to complete the challenge. Just remember to stay within the coronavirus restrictions.
Every penny you raise will help us to help women in need in Neath Port Talbot. Last year we supported 400 women and 123 children. The coronavirus pandemic means it’s a worrying and difficult time for us all, but imagine what lockdown is like trapped with an abusive partner or parent. For some families it’s not safe to leave the house and it’s not safe to stay in either. Since the lockdown, we’ve seen a 42% rise in demand for our services. Now more than ever, victims of domestic abuse need our support.
You can read more about how your money makes a difference to the lives of women and children in our latest Impact Report.
Everyone who completes their 40 miles and raises at least £10 for Thrive will receive a certificate and a Welsh slate coaster (adults) or medal (under 18s) as a token of our appreciation. These are kindly being provided by TATA Steel Richard Burton 10k.
To sign up to the event please register below. Look out for an e-welcome pack which will give more details about how to set up your fundraiser (you may need to check your junk folder).
We’ll also keep you posted with further details of the event and messages of support throughout April.
Thank you for your support and best of luck completing #40Miles4Thrive
